"Pulling Focus" draws inspiration from zone sci-fi classics like "Stalker" and "Annihilation." The aim of the video was to immerse viewers in a journey through a world that is simultaneously familiar and alien, achieved by grounding the perspective and camera in reality. Despite the freedom animation offers to explore any angle, the focus was on maintaining a sense of groundedness while the visuals ventured into the surreal. Embracing the power of juxtaposition, this project provided an ideal canvas for collaboration with Snakes of Russia and 3DB Music.

Given the tight turnaround time for this video, it was crucial that the concept was feasible within our timeframe. To ensure practicality, I aimed for the entire project to be executable in a single pass, allowing flexibility in post-production editing. While this approach inevitably led to some wastage, it provided essential 'footage' to manipulate during the editing process. Treating the animation as a series of live-action shots not only facilitated this workflow but also maintained a sense of realism, grounding the project in a way that aligned with the overall vision.
